Smart Car Roof Repairs
Since 1998, smart has offered what has become known as the fortwo, a two-seat city car originally developed with a rear-mounted engine. Famous for being able to park nose on to a curb legally, this model has something of a cult following.
This 2 seat Supemini has a clever three position roof that can be opened at any speed and is easily operated at a touch of a button. The cabriolet roof retreats backwards in the manner of a conventional sunroof, revealing a big slice of sky overhead. To remove the convertible roof completely, there are removable side bars that can be unclipped and stowed in the special compartment in the tailgate, while the rear convertible roof section, once released, drops down to sit on top of the boot.
Keeping your Smart’s roof system in top working order is essential and we recommend an annual roof service to keep the convertible roof system well lubricated and free of squeaks.
Like all soft top cabriolets they have their faults and in particular, lack of attention to care and maintenance can lead to water ingress and the usual electrical and mechanical faults caused by water damage on the operational roof system.
