The BMW 1 series convertible arrived to the soft-top market in 2008 and the fourth body style to emerge from the 1 series platform. The BMW E88 convertible competed against other manufacturers in the smaller soft-top market and also for BMW gave rivalry to its well established BMW 3 series convertible range.

The BMW 1 series E88 folding roof features a fabric drop-top that opens or closes in 22 seconds and at speeds of 25mph (we however would always recommend a stationary approach to operation for the roof to function at peak performance and limit any damage) and available in black, beige or the first innovative anthracite silver fleck – a cabriolet roof fabric material interwoven with fine shiny metallic fibres.
