The Mercedes CLK W208 & W209 models are examples of beautifully built, extremely elegant four seater drop top in the Mercedes convertible range.

The convertible hood itself is probably the most sophisticated soft top around. No manual intervention is required and the whole process operates in a matter of seconds, the multi-layered hood vanishing beneath a flush cover at the back.

The cabriolet fabric hood also offers class leading thermal insulation and noise absorption qualities. What’s more, it can all be operated by remote control from your key fob as you approach your vehicle.

Mercedes’ ‘Aircap’ system reduces buffeting in the cabin when travelling at speed while ‘Airscarf’ sends a blast of warm air around your neck, making top-down motoring feasible on more than just the four days we call the British summer.

Like all soft top cabriolets they have their faults and in particular, lack of attention to care and maintenance can lead to water ingress and the usual electrical and mechanical faults caused by water damage on the operational roof system.

Why is there hydraulic fluid leaking from my sun visor?
